Common Questions

It could be. Start by checking your consumer unit for a tripped circuit. If the circuit is live but the cooker still doesn't work, the fault could be in the cooker's connection point, the cooker switch, the dedicated circuit, or the appliance itself. We test the electrical supply side thoroughly — if the electrics are fine, the fault is likely internal to the appliance and may need a separate appliance engineer.

Yes — we diagnose the electrical supply to the shower, test the dedicated circuit and connections, and determine whether the fault is electrical or internal to the shower unit. If the circuit supply is confirmed as good, the fault is likely the shower's heating element or PCB, which requires an appliance engineer or unit replacement.

Yes — immersion heater faults are often electrical: a failed thermostat, a faulty element or a wiring issue at the connection point. We diagnose and repair the electrical side of immersion heater faults across Edinburgh. Element and thermostat replacements are within our scope as these are part of the fixed electrical installation.

For hardwired extractor fans (mains-connected rather than plug-in), an electrician is the right call. We test the supply circuit, the isolator switch and the fan's connections. If the electrical supply is confirmed as good and the fan motor has failed, a replacement fan is needed — we can supply and fit a like-for-like replacement.

Yes — any work on the electrical supply to fixed appliances in Edinburgh is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. We self-certify all appliance electrical repair work and issue a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, confirming the work is safe and compliant.
